Parks & Trails

Seminole County is home to acres of picturesque trails, parks and preserves perfect for hiking, biking and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. The Great Florida Birding Trail runs across several Seminole County wilderness areas, giving you the chance to experience some of the world's most enchanting birds. Visit Big Tree Park and you'll see the 3,500-year-old Senator, one of the oldest trees in the U.S., standing 118 feet tall and nearly 18 feet wide. Discover some the most scenic areas of the county on the Florida National Scenic Trail, a 1,300-mile trail that runs from the panhandle to the Everglades. Here, it's mostly unpaved except in Lake Mary, where it follows roadways and existing trails to cross the Seminole Wekiva Trail and the Cross Seminole Trail. These two trails have been designated as Seminole County Showcase Trails because of their length, beauty and accommodation of many users. Even pets can enjoy Seminole County parks, as there are several dog parks throughout the county such as Paw Park in Sanford.

Trail access points:

Cross Seminole Trail: Black Hammock Trailhead (off of State Road 434) or Downtown Oviedo (off of State Road 419)

Florida National Scenic Trail: Chuluota Bypass Trailhead and Charles H. Bronson State Forest at Snow Hill Road or the Geneva Wilderness Area.

Seminole Wekiva Trail: San Sebastian, Sanlando Park or the Seminole County Softball Complex.
